I am lazy, the laziest
girl in the world. I sleep during
the day when I want to, 'til
my face is creased and swollen,
'til my lips are dry and hot. I
eat as I please: cookies and milk
after lunch, butter and sour cream
on my baked potato, foods that
slothful people eat, that turn
yellow and opaque beneath the skin.
Sometimes come dinnertime Sunday
I am still in my nightgown, the one
with the lace trim listing because
I have not mended it. Many days
I do not exercise, only
consider it, then rub my curdy
belly and lie down. Even
my poems are lazy. I use
syllabics instead of iambs,
prefer slant to the gong of full rhyme,
write briefly while others go
for pages. And yesterday,
for example, I did not work at all!
I got in my car and I drove
to factory outlet stores, purchased
stockings and panties and socks
with my father's money.

To think, in childhood I missed only
one day of school per year. I went
to ballet class four days a week
at four-forty-five and on
Saturdays, beginning always
with plie, ending with curtsy.
To think, I knew only industry,
the industry of my race
and of immigrants, the radio
tuned always to the station
that said, Line up your summer
job months in advance. Work hard
and do not shame your family,
who worked hard to give you what you have.
There is no sin but sloth. Burn
to a wick and keep moving.

I avoided sleep for years,
up at night replaying
evening news stories about
nearby jailbreaks, fat people
who ate fried chicken and woke up
dead. In sleep I am looking
for poems in the shape of open
V's of birds flying in formation,
or open arms saying, I forgive you, all.

Does anybody here read or collect manga? Or maybe there's somebody on your Christmas list that does? I'm about to move, and since I never read my manga anymore I figure it's silly to bother bringing it along. I've got a ton of titles and would be willing to let them go for pretty cheap. Make me an offer for one, some, or all of them!

All are in great (like new) condition and in English unless noted. If number of volumes is not indicated, assume it's ONLY the first volume.

I am happy to provide more information or pictures - if you want to know more about the artist, the story, or the condition of ANYTHING listed below, let me know!

full list of titles under here )

I've also got fifteen volumes of manga magazines for girls - mostly Ribon and Betsucomi. These are chunky compilations of lesser-known manga artists, and usually have 6-7 different manga in them (one volume of each manga). They're in Japanese, but are GREAT language learning tools (all of the Kanji are spelled out in hiragana above or below) or art references (most of the art is pretty good). These are in varying conditions, none below "fair".

Finally, I also have a small collection of "starter" Japanese language books - a Japanese-English dictionary, a phrasebook, and two Kanji writing/reading practice books.

Make me an offer on any/all of the above! I consider any reasonable offer - I REALLY don't want to move all this stuff since I know I'll never use it.

Comedian Charlie Murphy, brother to Eddie Murphy, lost his wife to cancer this Sunday after she died in her sleep. His wife Tisha Taylor-Murphy has been battling cancer for the past two years. Having lost one of my family members to cancer during the holiday season, I can relate to what a terrible loss this is. You grieve no matter what time of year a loved one dies, but this must be especially hard on the Murphy family, knowing Tisha isn’t there to celebrate with them. Tisha leaves behind her daughter Eva, son Xavier and Charlie's son from a previous marriage.

It’s good to see that Ugly Betty has a pretty healthy respect for continuity.

The resurgent ABC comedy has inked a deal with Modern Family’s Jesse Tyler Ferguson to reprise his season 1 role as Betty’s orthodontist.

Ferguson returns in the Jan. 6 episode, the show’s first in its new Wednesday at 10 pm time-slot. Might his Dr. Farkus be back to perform the historic removal of Betty’s braces? Executive producer Silvio Horta prefers to leave that question unanswered. “It’s a really fun scene between the two of them” is all he would say.

Ferguson was inserted into the episode at the 11th hour after ABC asked Horta to come up with a cool way to kick off the show’s move to Wednesdays. Approaching one of the night’s biggest stars (who also just happens to be a Betty alum) was a no-brainer. “In lieu of a recap, they asked if there was a fun way to start the [episode],” he says. “So we decided to [bring] Jesse back.”

Just the latest in a long line of very smart decisions this show has made this season.

I tried this shit a hundred times, but it won't properly embed. I think it's regional thing so you have to watch the whole video in the source. It follows Peaches' journey to find a laser orchestra to give her shows that extra edge. She likens it to Prince's guitar and Gene Simmons' blood and flying act.

The lasers actually produce notes, it's pretty fucking sweet.

Courtney Love no longer has legal control of her daughter. TMZ has learned a legal guardian has been appointed to care for 17-year-old Frances Bean Cobain.

Guardianships of this nature are frequently established when the parent is not capable of taking care of their children.

The guardians appointed by the court are Wendy O'Connor, Kurt Cobain's mom, and Kimberly Dawn Cobain, Kurt's sister.

The guardianship was established on Friday. Courtney Love was not in court.

The guardianship is for both Frances Bean personally and her financial well-being.

The guardians do not have power over the trust established after Kurt Cobain's death.

The guardianship was established after a fairly long period of unstable conduct by Courtney Love. The court proceedings, however, are sealed.

Jack Black to guest star on 'Community'

title or description

It was exactly a year ago this week that the news of Jack Black's February 1st cameo on "The Office" broke and the web was abuzz with excitement over it. Well, apparently history is sort of repeating itself.

Sources tell Korbi TV about yet another scheduled Jack Black sitcom appearance, saying the "Tropic Thunder" actor has signed on to guest in a January episode of the Chevy Chase/Joel McHale comedy "Community."

"Community" -- which follows a manipulative, young lawyer (McHale) whose is disbarred and forced to attend a local community college where he befriends a band of misfits -- has been gaining critical praise throughout the season.

It could, however, use a bit of a boost in ratings.

Thank you, Jack Black.

Black is not the only big name lending a hand. We're told another high profile film actor, best known for his comedy hits at the box office, will be making a cameo in the same episode. (Hint: He's previously co-starred in a project with Jack Black)

Any guesses as to who it is?

Stephen King says 'Twilight' author Stephenie Meyer 'can't write worth a darn'

Photobucket

According to Stephen King, J.K. Rowling is "a terrific writer" while "Stephenie Meyer can't write worth a darn." Mr. King's views on Ms. Meyer's literary abilities came out during an interview with USA Weekend when he was asked if he believes his writing has been influential to today's up-and-coming scribblers, namely Ms. Rowling and Ms. Meyer. Mr. King went on to compare Twilight to the creations of another writer he called "terrible" but who was "very successful": Erle Stanley Gardner, author of the Perry Mason lawyer/mystery series. How does Mr. King explain the success of Twilight and books of its ilk? "People are attracted to the stories, the pace," says King. Twilight opens up "a kind of safe joining of love and sex...It's exciting and it's thrilling and it's not particularly threatening, because they're not overtly sexual. A lot of the physical side of it is conveyed in things like the vampire will touch her forearm or run a hand over skin, and she just flushes all hot and cold. And for girls, that's a shorthand for all the feelings that they're not ready to deal with yet." As you can imagine, the internet is erupting with Twi-hards venting their wrath upon the honest head of Mr. King. "The books are loved by many, not only teens, idiot." griped one fan. Another went quite a bit farther: "I think he's such a JERK! I'd like to say other things but we can't go swearing on here. What a moron! I haven't read his books, but what the heck?! He goes dissing Stephanie Meyer- I HAD to read all of her books b/c they were sooo good- and I'm 27- i have a complete life- the fact that he's like 'she writes pg material for hs girls" is such krap! What a donkey! Stephanie is OBVIOUSLY talented. WHo the heck asked for his opinion in the first place and why would he think he's qualified to critique her just b/c he's an author. What a limited mind he has!!! I feel like never picking up one of his dumb books! He is a machovanistic PIG! I had respect for him before b/c he's written so many best selling books but PUHLEASE! He's totally classless. He writes different types of books- why would he even comment on a totally differ type of book? I even went on his website and the way he answers his readers questions- he does it SoOO ARROGANTLY! AND he doesn't even have facebook or myspace or even a section on his website besides stupid Message forums (which I AM NOT GOING TO SIGN UP to just leave him a comment) so that we could leave him a COMMENT about his stupid CRITIQUES because he DOESN'T CARE WHAT THE PUBLIC THINKS (just look at the way he answers his fans' questions)! I could say more nasty things about him, but why even bother wasting my own personal time!"

*I am so ready for this Twilight bullshit to die and hopefully make more room for people who actually have good stories to tell. By the way, I'm looking for something new to read on my Christmas list for Santa. I like trashy celeb biographies and just stories about fictional people with exciting lives. Any good suggestions?*

Despite reports to the contrary, Orlando Bloom and Miranda Kerr are not headed down the aisle any time soon, the actor's spokesperson tells PEOPLE.

"There is no truth to any rumors of engagement,” Bloom's rep tells PEOPLE of reports that indicate the pair, who spent Thanksgiving at the opening of Marrakesh's La Mamounia hotel, had become engaged during the romantic getaway.

Though there are no immediate wedding plans, things are going strong for the couple, who began dating in 2007.

Since then, they have made time for each other in the midst of two busy schedules.

"Miranda and I spend so much time apart, she's working hard, I'm working hard, so we have to grab time together whenever we can," Bloom, 32, told PEOPLE last month. "A weekend here, a weekend there. We are just enjoying our time together now."

And a source who knows Kerr, 26, adds that the duo are thinking about marriage: "It's definitely something they talk about. She's starting to think about marriage and a family. But they're not ready just yet."

Rachel Uchitel has been getting numerous death threats, sources tell TMZ.

Uchitel -- the woman whose alleged affair ignited the Tiger Woods scandal -- has been getting cell phone calls from people threatening to kill her. A number of people got her cell phone number by looking at a 2001 photo making the rounds with an old cell phone number displayed -- a number that referred callers to her current cell phone.

MTV casts its 'Teen Wolf' (and he's the little boy from 'Maid in Manhattan'!)

I realize that by writing this item, I not only outed the fact that I’ve seen 2002’s Maid in Manhattan, but also that I consider the casting of Tyler Posey, the guy who played Jennifer Lopez’s son in the film, as the star of MTV’s Teen Wolf pilot worthy of an exclamation point. But come on! He was adorable in Maid in Manhattan! Granted, I haven’t seen him act since then (he did do a recent stint on ABC Family’s Lincoln Heights), but look at that face and tell me those eyes don’t draw you in.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, MTV’s much-talked-about take on Teen Wolf, as scripted by Criminal Minds creator Jeff Davis, is “a dramatic thriller with a buddy-comedy element at the center and a romantic plot line.” Posey will play Scott McCall, a high school dork who develops the ability to attract girls (and other super powers) after a wolf attack. His best friend (Dylan O’Brien) is originally skeptical, but goes all Scooby Gang and begins researching human-werewolf transformation. As for the drama: There’s a boy (7th Heaven’s Tyler Hoechlin), who’s already “a vicious and predatory werewolf capable of great harm.” And for the romance: the school’s got a sweet new girl (Crystal Reed) who takes an instant liking to Scott.

How are you feeling about MTV’s Teen Wolf now? I’m liking the “dramatic thriller” angle and believe Posey will make an adequate heartthrob. (Though having seen him as a child in Maid in Manhattan could keep the Twimom age bracket from making Team Tyler panties. Possibly.) I also think the show could fit nicely on a network that plans on running Buffy the Vampire Slayer reruns starting next month.

You are beautiful and faded
Like an old opera tune
Played upon a harpsichord;
Or like the sun-flooded silks
Of an eighteenth-century boudoir.
In your eyes
Smoulder the fallen roses of out-lived minutes,
And the perfume of your soul
Is vague and suffusing,
With the pungence of sealed spice-jars.
Your half-tones delight me,
And I grow mad with gazing
At your blent colours.

My vigour is a new-minted penny,
Which I cast at your feet.
Gather it up from the dust,
That its sparkle may amuse you.
